Berenice Abbott is known for her documnetary style photography of cultural figures and buidlings of New York city . Her "Changing New York" project captured the rapid transformation of New York and debuted in 1939 as a travelling exhibition and publication with captions by her partner of 30 years, art critic, Elizabeth McCausland . Berenice Abott also contributed greatly to bridging science and photography, inventing new techniques and photographic equipment, and creating innovative photographs of scientific phenomena.
