Julie Duschenes
Canadian, born 1953
New Brunswick-born Julie Duschenes works in watercolour, monoprint, acrylics on cotton, and oil painting. She obtained a Bachelor of Fine Arts from the Nova Scotia College of Art and Design in 1975 and a Master of Fine Arts from the University of British Columbia in 1981. She has taught at the Nova Scotia College of Art and Design, the Emily Carr Institute of Art and Design, and the University of Lethbridge with a focus on printmaking. Many of her artworks combine the coulee landscapes surrounding Lethbridge with everyday household objects.
Duschenes has exhibited in group and solo exhibitions across Canada. Public and private art collections house examples of her work. She has won several Canada Council grants throughout her career and a Faber-Castell Award at the 4th International Triennial Drawing Exhibition in Nuremberg.
Her work was shown in the University of Lethbridge Art Gallery 2017 exhibition “Looking Back, Looking Forward”, which explored the history of the art gallery for the University of Lethbridge’s 50th anniversary.
