Maureen Enns
Canadian, born 1943
Born in British Columbia, Maureen Enns is an author, conservationist, and investigative artist renowned for her research projects. She obtained a Bachelor of Education from the University of British Columbia in 1969 and a Master of Fine Arts from the University of Calgary in 1971. She completed an artist residency at Canberra School of Art and taught at Alberta College of Art and Design. She works in charcoal, painting, and mixed media.
Enns’ art has led her to complete remote fieldwork in locations that allow her to connect with animals and nature. Two of her major subjects are grizzly bears and Alberta’s wild horses. The artist has also published numerous books chronicling her journey to combine art and conservation.
Work from Enns can be found in public and private collections around the world. She has shown internationally in group and solo exhibitions. Enns has also been the recipient of more than 30 regional and national art grants that sponsor her ongoing projects.
