Lisa Brawn

Canadian

Lisa Brawn is a Calgary-based woodcut artist who primarily works in the genre of figurative portraits. Printmakers at the Alberta College of Art and Design introduced her to woodcut during her studies there, and Brawn focuses on the blocks themselves rather than the creation of prints. Common subjects in her work are popular culture figures and wild birds.
Brawn has exhibited in solo and group shows across Canada and the United States. Her work was part of the group exhibition, " Snap, Crackle, Pop", at the University of Lethbridge Art Gallery in 2010. Many of her exhibitions are staged in atypical spaces and feature prominently in public art initiatives across Calgary. Her work is held in public and private collections across Canada, Europe, and the United States.
