Joice M Hall

Canadian, born 1943

Edmonton-born Joice M. Hall graduated with a major in painting from the Alberta College of Art in 1965 and completed studies at the Instituto Allende in Mexico in 1966. Through the 1980s she was a sessional instructor at the Alberta College of Art and the University of Calgary. In 2000, Hall was elected a member of the Royal Canadian Academy of Arts. Her paintings focus primarily on landscapes and the use of panoramic formats.

Hall has participated in international solo and group exhibitions. Her work is seen in private and public collections across Canada and the United States. In 2010 the Kelowna Art Gallery held the retrospective exhibition “Surreal. Real. Ideal: The Art of Joice M. Hall”. This exhibition included the 1984 sixteen-panel artwork “Floating” on loan from the University of Lethbridge art collection.
