Karin van Dam
Dutch
Born in Veldhoven, Holland, Van Dam is known for her installations made from mass-produced materials such as plastic tubes, ropes and insulating casing. She views her installations as spatial drawings, encouraging viewers to walk through and immerse themselves within. Her process includes preparing 3-dimensional works in pencil drawings; urban structures are a recurring theme in her drawing work. Her first solo exhibition in Canada was held at ULAG in 2017, To Dwell in Pitch Black Pearls” inspired by the coal mining industry of Lethbridge and Southern Alberta.
