Tommy Nuvaqirq
Canadian, 1911 - 1982
Tommy Nuvaqirq was a graphic artist from Pangnirtung, NU. Born in 1911, much of Nuvaqirq’s art reflects his experiences with hunting and the oral stories he heard as a child. Included in the Pangnirtung annual print collections beginning in 1973, Nuvaqirq began his artist pursuits later in life.
Nuvaqirq’s prints have been featured in several Pangnirtung annual print collections and have been exhibited across Canada and internationally. Most recently, his works were featured in the 2018 ULAG exhibition Recent Acquisitions: Highlights from the collection of Dr. Margaret (Marmie) Hess.
