Vernon Stephens

Gitxsan artist Vernon Stephens was known for his innovative graphic designs and making bentwood boxes airbrushed with these designs. He was a painter, printmaker, and carver who studied and later spent thirty-five years teaching at the Gitanmaax School of Northwest Coast Art. His works are collected internationally and he was commissioned to complete various murals and totem poles in Canada, the United States, and Japan. In collaboration with Ken Mowatt, Stephens illustrated the book of Gitxsan legends “Weget Wanders On”.
