Liz Ingram

Canadian, born 1949

Liz Ingram was born in Argentina and grew up in New Delhi, Mumbai, and Toronto. She completed a Bachelor of Arts in Fine Art (1972) at York University and a Master of Visual Arts in Printmaking (1975) from the University of Alberta. Ingram went on to teach printmaking and drawing at the University of Alberta for forty years. She was elected to the Royal Canadian Academy of Arts in 1998 and received an Order of Canada in 2017.

Ingram works in etching, lithography, digital prints, and installation. Recurring themes in her work are the human body, elements of the natural world, the fragility of life, and the transition between materials and the ephemeral. Her work is housed in international collections and has been shown in more than 300 group and juried exhibitions around the world.
