Jessie Ursenbach
Canadian, 1895 - 1987
Jessie Ursenbach was a watercolour artist and devout Mormon inspired by her home and the people around her, creating realistic landscapes and floral arrangements. She studied at the Banff School of Art and the Ontario College of Art. Ursenbach was an active member of the Lethbridge Sketch Club, the Alberta Society of Artists, and the Canadian Federation of Artists. She taught art in various Southern Alberta communities throughout her lifetime.
Ursenbach has been shown and collected in Canada and the United States. Her works have been included in various University of Lethbridge Art Gallery shows. These include ‘Lethbridge Sketch Club: Beginnings’ (2003), ‘Still Alive: Still Life Works from the University of Lethbridge Art Collection’ (2015), and ‘Works in Progress’ (2016).
