Pauline McGeorge
Pauline McGeorge used her drawing and watercolour paintings to find the extraordinary in everyday places and subject matter. She completed a Master of Fine Arts from the University of California before moving to Lethbridge in 1966 to teach at Lethbridge Junior College. She went on to become one of the founding members for the University of Lethbridge’s Art Department, where she taught for twenty years. After retiring in 1986, McGeorge moved to Kootenay Lake and her art continued to draw inspiration from her extensive gardens.
Her work has been shown in several University of Lethbridge Art Gallery exhibitions. These include the 1995 show “In Retrospect 68/86”, the 2009 show “First Faculty: Works by Early Members of the University of Lethbridge Art Department”, and the 2017 show “Looking Back Looking Forward”. The Art Gallery of Alberta included McGeorge’s work in their 2019 exhibition “Rebellious: Alberta Women Artists in the 1980s”.
