Self-taught painter Hugh McKenzie’s Ojibwe name is Zaagiidgeaway Gabo, meaning Stands Near the Top of the Hill . He worked with fellow artist and friend Benjamin Chee Chee in his early career. McKenzie believes that a part of himself is added into every painting he executes.
