Eleeshushe Parr
Eleeshushe Parr was a talented multidisciplinary artist and is known for her drawings and prints. Born in 1896, she lived a traditional nomadic lifestyle until her husband, prolific printmaker and carver, Parr, became unable to hunt and the family settled in Kinngait (Cape Dorset), NU. Over her lifetime, Eleeshushe Parr created 1,160 drawings, and over 1,000 of her prints are included in the archives of the Kinngait Co-operative.
Parr had a large family, and both she and her husband influenced artistic qualities in several of their nine children, including Eepervik (Epirvik) Parr (sculptor), Nuna Parr (sculptor), and Quvianatuliak Parr (graphic artist), as well as her grandson Peter Parr (sculptor).
Parr’s works have been widely exhibited across Canada as well as internationally. Her works have not yet been exhibited at the ULAG.
